Activity 1 Week Three Day Two
Learning Intention: To earn full points for this activity you must type all five sentences and then fill in the blanks for each one. Post the completed sentences on your blog.
Unbee-lievable Facts about Bumblebees

  • The number of bumblebees is declining in New Zealand due to a number of factors, including the  number of bumblebees is declining in New Zealand because of people like us removing wildflowers from their habitat and the use of pesticides in the garden.

Activity 2 Week Three Day Two Learning Intention:On your blog, list all of the foods that you don't like to put in your special draining sink.

Some food that I don't like that I would put into my special draining sink are broccoli, collie, macaroni, eggs, pumpkin, corn and peas.

Activity 3 Week Three Day Two Learning Intention:Let’s imagine that we tested the air in your classroom and found 7 different kinds of mould. Eek! The cleaner says that it takes 5 days for each mould to be eradicated (removed). If the school had to remove each mould one at a time, how long would it take to remove all the mould from the classroom?

On your blog, tell us how you would solve this tricky maths problem. Be sure to also post your final answer in days or weeks.

To figure out this mathematics problem it really isn't that tricky. Since it takes 5 days for 1 mould to get removed you then keep going up in the five times tables like shown below.
Once you come to what the question was how much days or week would it take to remove all seven moulds. You can either do what I had done below or just do 7 moulds times 5 days which equals 35 days or 5 weeks.

5-1
10-2
15-3
20-4
25-5
30-6
35-7 This is the answer it will take 35 days (5 weeks) to remove seven moulds.

Summer Learning Journey Week Three Day One Activity 1,2 and 3

Activity 1 Week Three Day One
Learning Intention: On your blog, tell us what time of year you think is best for tourists for come and visit. Be sure to share at least three things that tourists could do while they were here in NZ.

The best time of year for tourism here in New Zealand is certainly in the Summer time.

In Summer a activity that tourists can do is the whale watching in Kaikoura. This is a great thing for them to do if they want to explore and find out more about whales and while they are going to watch the whales they can also enjoy the ocean.

The next activity that tourists can do in the Summer is to go kayaking. I would recommend go down to Kaiteriteri beach and hire their kayaks. Kaiteriteri beach is roughly 20 minutes away from Motueka and the beach is famous for its golden sand.

The last activity tourists can do in the Summer time is snorkelling. In the summertime snorkelling is the best time because when all the fish migrate and also corals and new reefs start to grow.

Activity 2 Week Three Day One Learning Intention: On your blog, list five different things that we can do to protect ourselves from the sun this summer!

1)Apply heaps of sunscreen to your skin where is will be exposed to the sun.

2) Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from UV radiation off the sun.

3) Sit under a tree or umbrella with shade to cool yourself down because if you get too hot you can get heat stroke.

4) Wear long sleeved t-shirts when in the sun to prevent your shoulders  from getting burn't.

5)Always wear a sunhat because just applying sunscreen isn't going to protect you face for the whole day.
Activity 3 Week Three Day One
Learning Intention: The hottest temperature on record in each place is: Dallol: 41oC; Dasht-e Loot: 71oC; Tirat Zvi: 54oC; Kabili: 55oC; Bandar-e Mahshahr: 51oC. Crazy ‘eh?!

For this activity, you are asked to use this information to create a graph. The graph should have a title along with the names of each city and their hottest recorded temperatures. You can draw the graph by hand or use a computer programme like Google Draw to create your graph. It’s completely up to you
This is a bar graph showing the temperature of each place.

Summer Learning Journey Week Two Day Five Activity 1,2 and 3

Activity 1 Week Two Day Five
Learning Intention: What do you think about this rule? Is it fair that people are charged up to $100 000 for over-fishing?
On your blog, tell us what you think about this rule and why you think it!
I think that this rule about being charged money for over fishing is definitely fair. I think being charged is fair for over-fishing because this can cause a huge impact on our sea life. Over-fishing has a huge impact on our sea life because if everyone that fishes fished over the limit on how much you were allowed to catch there won't be any thing left in our ocean. Also, there wouldn't just be nothing left in our ocean but different species of a certain fish would decrease into endangered and next will be extinction.
Activity 2 Week Two Day Five Learning Intention: Use Google to help you find two other polluted rivers in New Zealand other than the Tapawera River.

On your blog, tell us:
1) The names of the rivers. 2) The location of the rivers. 3) What is being done to clean up the rivers (if anything).
The first river I am going to talk to you about is the Manawatu River found in New Zealand. This river is being polluted by the dairy farms and towns close by with the sewage. The Manawatu River is found 12 km east of Palmerston North in the North Island of NZ. This river is being helped by two groups joining and trying to contribute this river and help people get involved to help.
The second river I am going to write about is my local Grey River. This river is highly polluted by sewage from Greymouth and flooding issues. The Grey River is found flowing between the Cobden and Blaketown tip of Greymouth in the South Island of NZ. Whats being done to help the Grey River is by us having this water system that can measure how much rain fall happens each day and from this they can be aware of flooding in the river and to stop this pollution.
Activity 3 Week Two Day Five Learning Intention: On your blog, list three different ideas or strategies for raising funds to preserve the Great Barrier Reef. What could you do to fund raise here in New Zealand?

1)The first idea that came to my mind to help fund raise for the great barrier reef is to walk around town or ask stores is they would like to put how much money they want into a bucket like a piggy bank but I will say what its for and why they could help.

2) Since I am still in primary school I could help the Great Barrier Reef by doing a mufti day at my school and each child who wears clothes other than their school uniform have to give $2 to the office to be wearing mufti.

3) Lastly I can help fund raise for the Great Barrier Reef is by selling $2 raffle tickets on a stool in my local supermarket. These people that come and buy my tickets also write their phone number in a square with a labelled number. Once people put their phone number in I can do a random number picker and it would pick a random number and what ever number that won and had gotten picked gets prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Summer Learning Journey Week Two/Day Four Activity 2

Activity 1 Week Two Day Four
Learning Intention: On your blog tell us which of the three options you would take to
explore Milford Sound. Be sure to tell us why you have chosen this option.
The way I would like to explore  the Milford Sound is in a chopper because the view would be
magnificent to see up high and because I have never been in a helicopter before.

Activity 2 Week Two Day Four

On your blog, give us a list of three to five options for the name of this geothermal pool.
Put a star (*) beside the name that you like the most.
My names for this lime coloured pool are...

-Limey lake falls
- Slime infested lake
- Slime cliff falls,
- Shrieks snot pool (*)

- Lime thick shake

Activity 3 Week Two Day Four Learning Intention: On your blog, write a short story about what you think is happening in the picture. Be sure to tell us where you think the people are and what you think they were doing at the time that they stopped to pose for the selfie. To earn full points, the story must be 8 – 10 sentences long.

The photo I choose to write a story about is the second.

I walk up these never lasting steps to the peak of a sight seeing view. I suddenly tilted my round head towards the warm and soft clouds hovering above me and seen a huge person . I seen other people going up one by one into this huge Rio statue, I lined up to climb it. When It was my turn I placed one foot on the strong and unpredictable ladder. Finally I got to the top. "Wow" was all I could say. I pulled my phone out and snap! I'd taken a selfie. I could feel the smooth and fresh breeze  pushing against my gentle body.
