Summer Learning Journey Week Three Day One Activity 1,2 and 3

Activity 1 Week Three Day One
Learning Intention: On your blog, tell us what time of year you think is best for tourists for come and visit. Be sure to share at least three things that tourists could do while they were here in NZ.

The best time of year for tourism here in New Zealand is certainly in the Summer time.

In Summer a activity that tourists can do is the whale watching in Kaikoura. This is a great thing for them to do if they want to explore and find out more about whales and while they are going to watch the whales they can also enjoy the ocean.

The next activity that tourists can do in the Summer is to go kayaking. I would recommend go down to Kaiteriteri beach and hire their kayaks. Kaiteriteri beach is roughly 20 minutes away from Motueka and the beach is famous for its golden sand.

The last activity tourists can do in the Summer time is snorkelling. In the summertime snorkelling is the best time because when all the fish migrate and also corals and new reefs start to grow.

Activity 2 Week Three Day One Learning Intention: On your blog, list five different things that we can do to protect ourselves from the sun this summer!

1)Apply heaps of sunscreen to your skin where is will be exposed to the sun.

2) Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from UV radiation off the sun.

3) Sit under a tree or umbrella with shade to cool yourself down because if you get too hot you can get heat stroke.

4) Wear long sleeved t-shirts when in the sun to prevent your shoulders  from getting burn't.

5)Always wear a sunhat because just applying sunscreen isn't going to protect you face for the whole day.
Activity 3 Week Three Day One
Learning Intention: The hottest temperature on record in each place is: Dallol: 41oC; Dasht-e Loot: 71oC; Tirat Zvi: 54oC; Kabili: 55oC; Bandar-e Mahshahr: 51oC. Crazy ‘eh?!

For this activity, you are asked to use this information to create a graph. The graph should have a title along with the names of each city and their hottest recorded temperatures. You can draw the graph by hand or use a computer programme like Google Draw to create your graph. It’s completely up to you
This is a bar graph showing the temperature of each place.

  1. Hi There Jack T!

How's your holidays going? I hope that you are able to get out and enjoy some beautiful sunny days this summer. Do you and your family have any special plans for the break? I would love to visit Greymouth! I would love to go whale watching in Kaikoura. You have compiled a great list of summer activities! I love going to the wave pools with my little sister. I also love getting fresh berry ice cream.

Thanks for the great sun safe tips! I love that you always add your personal voice into your blog posts! You are right! sunscreen isn't going to protect your face for the whole day. You need to wear a HAT. A bucket hat is an awesome way of protecting you neck and face.

Well done on creating an informative graph! It is very clear and easy to read! Pat yourself on the back. I enjoy New Zealand’s hot summers but it’s absolutely crazy to think about how hot other countries get! I once went to Australia a few years ago, it was 40 degrees Celsius! I was totally melting! What is the hottest temperature you have experienced?

    Keep up the great work!
He Whetu Koe! (You’re a star!)
